Digi-Key’s Lean Six Sigma Process Improvement Journey
Three years ago, Digi-Key Electronics launched an operational excellence program designed to modify Digi-Key operations with the goal of improving efficiencies, quality and customer satisfaction. Digi-Key has found that the key to improving internal processes is changing the culture and involving / engaging management and employees. Teri Ivaniszyn, Andrew Bourne and Tony Lindgren will provide a joint presentation on Digi-Key’s journey in implementing lean six sigma. Rick Trontvet will provide an update on Digi-Key operations including the upcoming construction of the new Product Distribution Center in Thief River Falls that will increase the company’s operational footprint by 2.2 million square feet and bring hundreds of new jobs to Thief River Falls. At the last H2WMA meeting, Dr. Ahmed of the University of Minnesota-Crookston discussed how lean six sigma strategies can improve efficiencies. The February meeting in Thief River Falls will provide insight as to how Digi-Key has used these tools to become more efficient and improve their customer and operations experiences. An optional tour of Digi-Key’s facility will be provided to interested attendees following the lunch and program. Please be sure to join us on February 15th!
