How To Develop A Culture Of Safety Leadership Culture

For many decades a popular refrain has been that “safety is everybody’s business” and, while it may not have always been applied across organizations, the premise still holds true. David Towley, assistant professor for Bemidji State University’s School of Technology, Art & Design, will present on the concept of developing a culture of safety leadership at all levels of an organization. He will share insight as to why such an approach is to be considered, how such a process could begin, and how – with appropriate support – that process could evolve through leveraging a trained, committed and engaged workforce.

Changing The Perception Of Manufacturing

Jaimee Meyer, director of marketing and outreach for the Minnesota State Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence at Bemidji State University will provide an overview of the Dream It. Do It. Minnesota campaign she leads. She will discuss the work that has been done at the Center to change the perception of manufacturing and to recruit the next generation of workers through resource distribution, regional projects, programs and events statewide. Meyer will also share how manufacturers in this region can participate and support this program to inspire students to choose a career in manufacturing.
